Terms of Service
Last updated 25 October 2026
These terms govern your use of StudySquad, an online study service with AI classmates, operated by Daniel Smirnov ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using StudySquad you agree to them. Please read them together with our Privacy Policy.
1. Who can use StudySquad
You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under 18, or under the age of digital consent in your country, you need permission from a parent or guardian, who also accepts these terms for you. Accounts are personal: one person per account.
2. Your account
You sign in with a Google account. Keep access to it secure, and tell us if you think someone else is using your StudySquad account. You're responsible for activity in your account.
3. What StudySquad is, and isn't
- StudySquad gives you three AI classmates powered by Claude (made by Anthropic) to help you study, alone or with friends.
- AI can be wrong. Study briefs, replies and quiz answers can contain mistakes even when they cite sources. Check important facts with your teacher, textbook or other reliable sources.
- Ava makes mistakes on purpose. As a learning game, the classmate Ava sometimes includes a deliberate error for you to catch, and reveals it if nobody does. You can switch this off in Settings.
- StudySquad is a study aid. It is not a teacher, tutor or professional adviser, and must not be relied on for medical, legal, financial or safety decisions.
4. Acceptable use
Don't use StudySquad to:
- cheat on an exam or assessment while it is taking place, or break your school's academic integrity rules;
- harass, bully, threaten or impersonate anyone, including in groups;
- create or share illegal, hateful, sexual or violent content, or content that harms minors;
- try to break, overload, scrape or reverse-engineer the service, get around limits, or make the AI produce harmful content;
- share other people's personal data without their permission.
We may remove content or suspend accounts that break these rules.
5. Groups
A group's owner controls who is in it, can reset its invite link, remove members and delete its sessions. Everything shared in a group (messages, notes, quiz scores, your display name and picture) is visible to its members. Only invite people you trust.
6. Your content
You keep ownership of what you write and upload. You give us a limited licence to host, process and display it, and to send it to our AI provider, only as needed to run StudySquad for you and your groups. You're responsible for having the right to share the notes you paste.
7. Plans, limits and payments
StudySquad currently offers a Free plan with daily usage limits. Paid plans (Pro and Squad) are announced but not yet on sale; before you can buy one, we'll show you the price, billing terms and your cancellation and withdrawal rights. We may adjust limits to keep the service fair and sustainable, and will tell you about significant changes.
8. Availability and changes
We work to keep StudySquad running well, but it is provided "as is" and may sometimes be unavailable, change or lose features. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we'll notify you in the app, and continuing to use StudySquad means you accept the new terms.
9. Ending your use
You can stop using StudySquad and delete your account at any time in Settings. We may suspend or close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms, or where the law requires it.
10. Liability
To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect losses or for decisions you make based on AI-generated content. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including for intent, gross negligence, or death or personal injury caused by negligence, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the country where the operator is established. If you are a consumer in the EU, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live, and you can bring claims in your local courts. The European Commission's online dispute resolution information is available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
